Ryoji Ikeda - JP
Immersed in the cosmic horizons of sound experimentation, Ryoji Ikeda pushes the boundaries of electronics in prodigious audiovisual works.
A leading artist of the Japanese avant-garde, Ryoji Ikeda organises his impressive sound vocabulary around scientific data which he translates into a kaleidoscopic soundtrack, between liminal sonorities, ambient layers, rumbling infra-bass and techno polyrhythms. As a true architect of sound, he creates transcendent soundscapes that probe the limits of technological research and human capacities, giving us access to the sublime through submerged senses. Driven by an insatiable desire for experimentation, the Japanese artist, close to Alva Noto, Mika Vainio or Autechre, thus opens up new radical horizons, patiently waiting for the future to catch up with him.
